Pretshila Hill

Pretshila Hill, located around 8 kilometers northwest of Gaya, is a highly sacred hill steeped in immense spiritual importance for ancestral liberation. Standing at a height of roughly 540 feet, its name literally translates to "The Rock of Spirits."

At the summit sits a historic temple dedicated to Lord Yama, the god of death, originally built over a distinctive, cracked sacred boulder. Devotees climb the steps to this peak to perform essential Pind Daan and specialized Sharaddh Karma rituals. It is strongly believed that performing these rites here pacifies souls that met with unnatural deaths and relieves families from severe Pitra Dosh. The site remains a vital pillar of salvation rituals in Gaya.
